Inventory of Collaborative Committees

The CSWBPC conducted an inventory of collaborative committees – defined as a group of agencies working together for a common goal. The purpose of the inventory was to understand what local collaborative committees exist, how their work connects to CSWB priorities and objectives, the role they could play in implementing the CSWB Plan, and how the CSWBPC could support them.

A list of the collaborative committees that were part of the inventory is below. This is not a complete list - if you know of a group that needs to be included, please contact us.

  • A committee of Stratford City Council, the purpose of the AAC is to monitor, advise, and educate City of Stratford councilors and staff on accessibility for persons with disabilities. The committee advocates for improved accessibility in the city by, for example, reviewing site plans and documents as they relate to accessibility.

  • Established in 2020 and co-chaired by the United Way Perth-Huron and the City of Stratford Social Services Department, CASLG is responsible for establishing a coordinated access system for homelessness services and supports. This a standardized and coordinated process for accessing, assessing, prioritizing, matching, and referring households experiencing homelessness for housing and other services across all agencies and organizations in the community.

  • Started in 2017 as a working group of Kids First Huron-Perth, the goal of the Children’s Charter group is to facilitate a shift in culture, thinking, and behaviour that takes into account the rights of children and youth in Huron and Perth Counties. This group creates resources for childcare providers and families and hosts education and awareness-raising activities.

  • Established in 2019 with membership from over 70 healthcare organizations in Huron and Perth Counties, the HPA-OHT envisions a sustainable, people-driven system that strives to provide a positive experience for all. The group aims to develop a healthcare system that delivers evidence-based, fiscally responsible and sustainable care, pursues opportunities to eliminate gaps and duplication, and partners together for effective decision-making.

  • Established in 1975 as the Mental Health and Addiction Network, it is now a working group of the Huron Perth and Area Ontario Health Team (HPA-OHT). Its purpose is to plan for and oversee the continued development of a coordinated and integrated system of mental health and addiction services in Perth-Huron.

  • Consisting of community partners in human services and policing, the purpose of the situation table is to support vulnerable people in Huron and Perth Counties who are at an acute elevated risk of harm or victimization by coordinating activities to reduce or mitigate those risks. The Huron-Perth Situation Table has been in existence since 2010.

  • As a sub-committee of the Social Research and Planning Council since 2006, this group plans and coordinates efforts to strengthen the social safety net and focus relief efforts on people experiencing poverty and income insecurity.

  • A sub-committee of the United Way Perth-Huron, this group brings together organizations that plan to participate as tenants in a community access centre in Listowel once it is constructed. During meetings, members are updated on the progress of the project, asked to provide feedback on the development, specifically in terms of what would be beneficial for their organizations and clients. Planning for this community access centre began in 2017 and the group is actively seeking financing for construction.

  • Established in 1998, PREP coordinates employment services in Perth County so that they are available, accessible, and easy to use. PREP provides networking and information sharing opportunities for employment service providers and organizes information days for service providers across all sectors to understand what community employment services and programs available.

  • Supported by Huron Perth Public Health, the goal of the Perth County Food Security Coalition is to increase the capacity of organizations and communities within Perth County to create sustainable local food systems and achieve community food security. The group identifies strategies to increase access to health food, collaborates with other partners to support initiatives, and educates and engages the community about food system issues.

  • Supported by Huron Perth Public Health, Poverty to Prosperity brings organizations, individuals, and groups together from across sectors to better the lives of people who live in poverty. This committee develops and implements effective poverty reduction strategies, improves access to services and supports, utilizes local information and data, educates, builds awareness, and provides expertise on poverty and related issues, and advocates for policy changes that decrease poverty and its impact.

  • Established in 2019, RDAC brings together data experts from a broad range of sectors as well as interested volunteers to act as a conduit between producers and users of knowledge and work towards action-oriented outcomes on local issues. RDAC is a sub-committee of the Social Research and Planning Council (SRPC).

  • Established in 2006 and supported by the United Way Perth-Huron, SRPC beings together community representatives dedicated to the collection, analysis, and distribution of information relating to social trends and issues in Perth and Huron Counties. The SRPC commissions research on social issues, provides reports, develops recommendations for community improvement, and maintains MyPerthHuron.ca, a centralized source of local data.

  • As a standing committee of the County of Perth, CAAH provides advice and recommendations to County Council on initiatives that support the expansion and retention of affordable, attainable, and rental housing. Established in 2021, this committee consists of members of County Council, citizens, and delegates from relevant organizations.

  • Stop VAW is a community-based committee that responds to violence against women by developing prevention and awareness strategies for violence against women in Perth County. The group, consisting of organizations, agencies and survivors of violence, educates and provides information about services available to the community and works towards ending violence against women in Perth County. The Committee recognizes that experiences of violence and abuse lie within systems of oppression and are shaped by diverse experiences.

  • The Stop VAW Survivor Advisory Group was formed in 2020 and allows VAW survivors’ voices to inform the goals and work of the Stop VAW Coordinating Committee of Perth and increase input from diverse survivors in the work of ending violence against women.

  • This group is a central labour body combining the strength of local unions. It organizes and advocates on issues that are vital to working people throughout the region and provides opportunities to discuss social causes, labour struggles, and political action, and celebrate advances made by the labour movement.

  • The UWPH oversees three community committees in Perth County to address the #unignorable issues of poverty, homelessness, mental health, domestic violence, hunger, and social isolation at the local level. These committees, made up of citizen volunteers, mobilize their communities, set priorities, plan and develop initiatives, and fundraise. They are located in North Perth, Stratford and area (including West Perth and Perth East), and St. Marys and area (including Perth South).
